Peter Huemer (journalist)
Peter Huemer (* 1941 in Linz ) is an Austrian publicist , journalist and historian .
Life
After graduating from the Stiftsgymnasium Wilhering high school , Peter Huemer studied history, German literature and art history at the University of Vienna , where he received his doctorate in 1968 .
From 1969 to 2002 he worked for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation . He was best known as the head of the television program Club 2 . After he left Club 2 , he hosted the successful radio program In Conversation in the Austria 1 program for 14 years .
In 2002 he held the Theodor Herzl Lecturer in Poetics of Journalism at the University of Vienna . Since 2005 he has been a member of the editorial board of Datum magazine . Huemer continued to speak frequently in Austrian and international media on current topics.
From 2011 to 2015 Huemer conducted a monthly series of talks at the stadtTheater walfischgasse with one guest each, including André Heller , Sally Perel , Sophie Freud , Michael Haneke , Joachim Gauck , Reinhold Messner and Harald Schmidt . In the 2013/2014 season he also worked at the Burgtheater in Vienna as a moderator on the project Die letzte Zeugen by Doron Rabinovici and Matthias Hartmann .
