George W. Peters Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The George W. Peters Prize has been awarded annually since 1992 by the Evangelical Working Group for Mission, Culture and Religion eV (AfeM) for the promotion of mission science work.

George W. Peters (1907–1988), Mennonite missiologist, was the founder and longstanding rector of the AEM University for Mission in Korntal near Stuttgart. He suggested the establishment of the AfeM. Through his publications, his research as well as teaching and lecture activities, he made a contribution to evangelical missiology in the German-speaking area.

In recognition of his missiological life's work and in memory of him, the prize for achievements in his sense and in the sense of the AfeM's mandate is awarded as the main prize and as a sponsorship prize.
