Martin Luther Medal
The Martin Luther Medal is an award given by the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) in recognition of outstanding commitment to Protestantism. The decision to donate the medal was taken in September 2008; the award is planned as part of the Luther Decade until the Reformation anniversary in 2017. The members of the synod and the council of the EKD as well as the members of the church conference have the right to propose candidates . The award takes place annually on Reformation Day at different locations.
