The Heinz Galinski Prize is awarded by the Heinz Galinski Foundation of the Berlin Jewish Community .

The award is named after Heinz Galinski , the long-time chairman of the Berlin Jewish Community and the Central Council of Jews in Germany , who died in 1992 . It is awarded for special merits in the German-Jewish understanding and special commitment in the “promotion of tolerance, education and the idea of ​​international understanding”.

The endowment in 2001 was 25,000 marks, later 5000 euros.
