Marlen Schachinger (born December 12, 1970 in Braunau am Inn ) is an Austrian author and literary scholar.

Life

Marlen Schachinger spent childhood and youth in the Upper Austrian Innviertel and Hausruckviertel . After graduating from the Economics Realgymnasium der Franziskanerinnen, she moved to Vienna to study comparative literature, German and Romance languages . After a longer study trip to Paris , he returned to Vienna in 1996. After working in the book trade for two years and receiving her first literary prizes and grants, she began working as a freelance writer. In 2012 she did her doctorate on the subject of "Career. Authors between salons, independent groups and institutional training". She is the director of the Institute for Narrative Art , founded in 2012 , where she teaches literary writing and literary reception.

In addition to her literary work, Schachinger is heavily involved with the theory of writing and feminist literary history. Her previous work (short stories, novels, audio plays, poetry and non-fiction books from the HerStory department) has received numerous grants and prizes. Linda Stift writes in the press about Schachinger's approach and her current work ( Albors Asche , 2015): "In her institute for narrative art in the Lower Austrian region around Laa, Marlen Schachinger makes passionate pleading for unrestrained fables that students should 'see the blue of the sky lying down 'and' linguistically cheating on the madness of everyday life ' big words. "
