Nun-e ghunna

Nun-e ghunna ( Urdu نون غنہ nūn-e ġunna ;ں) is a character of the Urdu extended Arabic alphabet . Nun-e ghunna consists of a nun (ن), but does not have a diacritical point above. The character only exists at the end of a word and is not considered a separate part of the alphabet.

In the Arabic script of Urdu, Nun-e ghunna is used to identify the nasalization of the preceding vowel . For this purpose, a nun with a point is placed in the middle of the word - in order to identify the nun as a sign of nasalization in this case, a small nun-e ghunna can be translated over it.

The character is also used in the Arabic alphabet ( Shahmukhi ) of the Punjabi and Saraiki . The character is coded as Noon ghunna in the Arabic unicode block at code point U + 06BA and in the Arabic unicode block at code points U + FB9E and U + FB9F, the bookmark to be translated in the Arabic unicode block at code point U + 0658.
