The OÖ Seilbahnholding GmbH is the holding company in which the participation of the state of Upper Austria in tourism infrastructure is organized.

history

In contrast to the tourist strongholds in Tyrol and Salzburg, for example, the state of Upper Austria played a key role in the development of winter sports after the war, for example as a minority shareholder when Dachstein Tourismus AG was founded in 1947 with the federal government and the state of Styria, and with a local one Company with the Grünberg cable car in 1955 as an early public-private partnership project, also in the expansion phase of the 1980s in the Dachstein area. In 1999/2000, the cable car operations in Hinterstoder and Spital am Pyhrn were partially privatized and transferred to the Schröcksnadel Group as part of the nationalization measures . In 2000, the same investors also took over the Hochficht Bergbahnen in Mühlviertel, which had been operated with the Premonstratensian Schlägl since 1965 .

In September 2005, the Upper Austrian Cable Car Holding was created for all remaining holdings relevant to tourism and incorporated into the Upper Austrian Landesholding , the state's overall holding structure. Originally only intended for the cable car holdings, it now looks after most of the state's investments in the industry, including other facilities (hospitality industry, travel agency) - but the spas are part of a separate group, the Upper Austria Thermenholding , and the Upper Austrian Kalkalpen National Park is directly owned by the state holding assumed. At the same time, the funding strategy was changed from subsidizing companies to expanding the regional framework.

It operates primarily in the Salzkammergut . With around one million guests annually in the group of companies, the cable car holding is one of the largest tourism companies in Upper Austria.

Tasks and companies

The company's objective is "the provision of services for the operational and strategic management of cable cars and lifts in the associated companies." In doing so, it follows the guidelines of the Upper Austrian regional tourism concept (Kursbuch Tourismus Oberösterreich) .

It is organized in the legal form of a limited liability company , with OÖ Landesholding as the sole shareholder . The holding is located in Gmunden , in the Toskanapark .

The following companies and brands are located under the branch holding company (as of 2011/12):

The most important partners are the Upper Austria. Tourismus , the country's tourism organization, and the Salzkammergut Tourismus , the association of municipalities, in particular the Dachstein Salzkammergut tourism associations ( Inneres Salzkammergut region ) and the Traunsee holiday region .
