O'Reilly Iceland is an uninhabited island in the Kitikmeot region of the Canadian territory of Nunavut .
geography
O'Reilly Island is the largest of the numerous islands in the Queen Maud Gulf , which are off the Klutschak and Adelaide peninsulas immediately to the west. The island is flat and interspersed with numerous lakes. With a length of 12 km in north-south direction and a width of up to 5 km, it has an area of 34.6 km².
history
In September 2014, the wreck of the HMS Erebus , one of the two ships of the Franklin expedition , was found west of O'Reilly Island at a depth of only eleven meters .
