The Klutschak Peninsula ( English Klutschak Peninsula , until 1958 also Henry Peninsula ) is a peninsula in the Kitikmeot region of the Canadian territory of Nunavut . It is named after Heinrich Klutschak , the Austrian cartographer of the overland expedition Frederick Schwatkas , who explored this area in 1879 in search of traces of the Franklin expedition .
The Klutschak Peninsula is bounded to the west by McLoughlin Bay of the Queen Maud Gulf . To the east, Sherman Inlet separates it from the Adelaide Peninsula . The Klutschak Peninsula is flat and has numerous shallow lakes. It is on average 38 meters high, at its highest point 71 meters. In the Queen Maud Gulf there are several islands in front of it, of which O'Reilly Island is the largest.
