O'Sullivan's Peak

The O'Sullivan Peak is an icy and 1765  m (according to British data 1840  m ) high mountain on the Black Coast of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises as the highest peak of a north-south oriented and icy mountain ridge near its southern end, which is located 18 km west of the northern arm of Odom Inlet .

Aerial photographs were taken in December 1940 during the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941). Its participants probably also spotted him when exploring this stretch of coast. The first survey was carried out in 1947 by the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948) in collaboration with scientists from the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey . The latter named him after Thomas Patrick O'Sullivan (1924-1998), who had been a member of the survey team at the Hope Bay station from 1946 to 1947 .
