Outreach states

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As outreach countries, outreach countries or O5 countries (O5), those emerging economies called that despite the lack of membership in the meetings of the Group of Seven participate (G7). At the moment this applies to the economically increasingly important countries of the People's Republic of China , India , South Africa , Brazil and Mexico . Both groups together were also called G8 + 5 when the group of seven expanded to include Russia and formed the group of eight.

South Africa is already counted among the industrialized countries by the EU and the UN , not among the emerging economies. Strictly speaking, the states of the African Union must also be included, as they too meet the same requirements.

The so-called Heiligendamm process (named after the 2007 summit location; see G8 summit in Heiligendamm 2007 ) takes into account the view that such far-reaching and global issues as climate protection cannot be resolved without the involvement of the major emerging countries. A meeting of the G8 heads of state with those of the O5 and NEPAD states was planned in Heiligendamm .

Elmau 2015

The following countries were invited to the G7 outreach meeting of the G7 summit at Schloss Elmau : Ethiopia , Iraq , Liberia , Nigeria , Senegal , Tunisia , as well as the African Union .
