history

In 1963, Walter Raber founded the Ottweiler construction company . The company specializing in civil engineering grew into a medium-sized company with 160 employees in just a few years. With the establishment of investments in various special areas of the construction industry, the value chain could be enlarged. In 1979 the Ottweiler construction company with 365 employees was one of the leading construction companies on the Saar. 1986 Jürgen Raber became managing director.

At the end of the 1990s, the holdings were reorganized and supplemented. In 2002, the Ottweiler Baugesellschaft became OBG Bau , and the investments were bundled in OBG Holding . The assembly group arranged in this way was now able to offer complete offers for private and public clients in addition to the classic construction services.

In 2006, the business areas were restructured with the establishment of OBG AG and bundled under one roof. They included services in civil engineering, structural engineering and civil engineering as well as pipeline and gas system construction as well as water and sewage technology. The range also includes special construction services such as microtunnelling, pile foundations and bridge renovation, but also raw material supply and recycling.

In 2012, in addition to OBG AG, QBUS Holding was founded as a real estate efficiency network, to which project development and property development projects were also outsourced. The project development company Quartiersmanufaktur, which was founded together with partners and is based in Trier, signed a basic urban development contract for the reuse of the former Westerwald barracks in July 2013 with the municipality and the city of Montabaur. The quarter manufacturer acquired the 41 hectare barracks from the Federal Agency for Real Estate. In February 2014, the shareholders of the corporate group decided to change the legal form: OBG AG became OBG Gruppe GmbH . In November 2016 OBG Rhein-Neckar was founded as an independent company. Initially launched as a branch of OBG Hochbau in autumn 2014, this new location in Mannheim stands for the consistent technical and geographical development of the corporate group.

OBG has been involved in the IMMPRINZIP joint venture since April 2017 . The company's aim is to develop, manufacture and market standardized, cost-effective residential properties as part of public funding programs for low and normal wage earners. With the re-establishment of QBUS in November 2017, the idea of the real estate efficiency network was carried forward. In association with the OBG Group, QBUS can provide services over the entire life cycle of real estate.

With the founding of WL Architekten in October 2018, the OBG Group expanded its planning know-how. In December 2019, OBG Hochbau opened branches in Mainz and Kaiserslautern.
