Ogle is a under the free GPL standing DVD poker players for Linux , FreeBSD , NetBSD , OpenBSD and Solaris . Ogle was the first open source DVD player that also supports the menus in DVD films and, along with MPlayer , Xine and VideoLan, was one of the best-known DVD players for Linux. It only plays DVDs and no other videos that are in AVI format.

The first public version was Ogle 0.7.0 in 2001. The project has since been discontinued. The last stable version is Ogle 0.9.2 from 2003. The official website is no longer available.

There is also a GTK + -based graphical user interface for Ogle called Ogle_gui. The Ogle developers also provided the libdvdread library , which MPlayer needs to read DVDs, among other things .
