Origa (actually Olga Witaljewna Jakowlewa , Russian О́льга Вита́льевна Я́ковлева ; born  October 12, 1970 in Kotschenjowo near Novosibirsk ; † January 17, 2015 , Kanagawa Prefecture) was a Russian singer who lives and works in Japan . Origa is the transcription of the Japanese spelling オ リ ガ for Olga .

biography

Origa visited Sapporo, Japan , as an exchange student in 1991 , one year after graduating from music school. She started her career as a singer and songwriter. In 1993 she signed a contract with the ROAD & SKY Organization and moved to Tokyo where she lived from 1993 to 2011. Since then she has participated in several projects of various interpreters. In 1998 she met her future husband, the Iranian producer Zhian Saedi, at a party where he heard her sing. In the same year the two married and Origa gave birth to their son Ilya (Ilyusha) Saedi.

By 2005 she had released seven solo albums, two mini-albums and three singles. Outside of Japan, she became known for the soundtracks to the anime series Ghost in the Shell , which was composed by Yoko Kanno . The best-known titles from it are Inner Universe ( Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex ) and Rise ( Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG ). Also in 2005 Origa sang some songs for the anime series Fantastic Children , here the ending Mizu no Madoromi deserves special mention, which she interpreted in a Japanese and a Russian version. A year later she participated with text and voice in the opening ( Player ) and Ending ( Date of Rebirth ) of the film Ghost in the Shell: SAC Solid State Society . In 2011 she contributed two songs to the soundtrack of Final Fantasy XIII-2 , which were written by the composer Mitsuto Suzuki .

In 2011 Origa emigrated to Vancouver, Canada. While continuing to work in Japan, she gained new reach by attending anime festivals in North America and Europe and her career took on new dimensions.

After more than a year Origa returned to Tokyo to finish her last studio album, which was released on October 21, 2015 after her death as a 2 CD album with a collection of her greatest successes as well as parts of her last studio album "Amon Ra" and an arrangement of the Russian people's title "The Annulet" was published together as a last work.

She died on January 17, 2015 at 8:20 am at the age of 44 after an 8-day hospital stay in Kanagawa Prefecture of lung cancer, the official cause of death was heart failure .
