Upper School Center

The upper level center (OSZ for short) is a type of vocational school in the German federal states of Berlin and Brandenburg , in which different courses of education in various occupational fields are offered under one roof.

General education schools offer courses up to the Abitur. Sometimes further training institutions such as technical schools are also housed in the OSZ. High school centers have existed since the restructuring of vocational education. In the 2006/2007 school year, over 75,000 trainees and schoolchildren attended an upper school center in Berlin / Brandenburg. As public educational institutions, upper school centers are free of charge; BAföG funding can be applied for for certain courses .
