Oakland California Temple

The Oakland California Temple is the thirteenth temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). It is located in Oakland ( California , USA ). Its construction was announced in 1962, and it was consecrated in 1964.

The temple is visible from afar on a hill in Oakland and soon became a local attraction. It is the only temple in this church with a modern five-tower design. Its architect was Harold W. Burton. The temple has four endowment rooms and seven sealing rooms . There are two large friezes on the north and south sides . The one on the south side shows Jesus appearing to the indigenous people of America according to Mormon belief after his resurrection. The frieze on the north side shows Jesus preaching to the people. A terrace in front of the temple offers a magnificent view of the Bay Area , from Oakland to San Francisco with the Golden Gate Bridge .
