Obedient Wives Club

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Obedient Wives Club (OWC), in German about “Club of Obedient Wives”, is a Malaysian association that claims to have the goal of promoting more harmonious families by teaching women correct behavior. The international association is characterized by a very conservative and submissive attitude of women towards their families and especially their husbands.

The organization consists of around 3000 members worldwide in Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia and Singapore , but is also active in Australia , Kazakhstan and Jordan . The group under observation in Malaysia moved the head organization to Mecca in 2011 .

In 2011 the club published the book Islamic Sex, Fighting Jews to Return Islamic Sex to the World for its members only ; However, details of it became public, and because of the rules of conduct for an obedient wife propagated therein, the organization came under heavy criticism, especially on the Internet. In particular, the formulation that a wife should behave towards her husband as a “first-class prostitute” caused outrage not only among Muslims , but above all among feminists worldwide. Although the organization invokes the Islamic faith, members of other religions are expressly welcome.
