The obelisk at Giersleben is an obelisk near the village of Giersleben in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The obelisk is located to the west on Landstrasse 72 between Schackenthal and Warmsdorf in the Giersleben district. The district of Amesdorf begins immediately to the east of the obelisk . In this area, the L 72 is part of the Deutsche Alleenstrasse .

The south-facing side is labeled:

history

The memorial stone was erected according to its inscription in 1838 in honor of Duke Heinrich von Anhalt-Köthen in connection with the previously built road between Schackenthal and Warmsdorf .

In 2005 the Werkstätten für Denkmalpflege GmbH Quedlinburg restored the stone on behalf of the Halberstadt Road Construction Office. The font was renewed and a staircase was created.
