Schackenthal is a district of the city of Aschersleben in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt .

The place was first mentioned in 965 under the name Scakendal . From 1019 the village was owned by the Bamberg Monastery , but ecclesiastically belonged to the Wiederstedt Archdeacon of the Halberstadt Diocese .

The townscape is shaped by the village church, which was consecrated on October 31, 1937.

On January 1st, 2009 Schackenthal was incorporated into Aschersleben.
