Location of Groß Schierstedt in Aschersleben
|
Groß Schierstedt is a district of the town of Aschersleben, about 4 km to the west, in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt .
The highlight in the place is the annual shooting festival, which takes place on the fourth weekend in July on the fairground.
geography
Most of the area is used for agriculture. Groß Schierstedt can be divided into the Wipperaue, the Schackenthäler Feld, the slopes to the left and right of the Wipper and the Mehringer Feldflur.
Colloquially, Groß-Schierstedt is divided into the so-called " upper and lower village ". Almost all side streets branch off from the two main routes “ Obere and Untere Dorfstraße ” leading through Groß-Schierstedt .
history
Groß Schierstedt was first mentioned in 950 as part of Christian's margraviate . The part of the name "-stedt" indicates a Thuringian foundation. The place name changed from Scerstedde in 1010 to Scystede around 1301, later Scerstede and Sceresstede. The winged altar was erected in 1583 in the Nikolaikirche , which is now a listed building. In 1806 Messrs. Christian Herrmanns and Christoph Nellerts donated the building of a school.
Groß Schierstedt was under the jurisdiction of the magistrate of Aschersleben in the diocese and later principality of Halberstadt . The state sovereignty over the place lay with the Archbishopric of Magdeburg , to whose hall circle the place belonged. However, Groß Schierstedt formed an enclave between the Sandersleben office belonging to the Principality of Anhalt-Dessau and the Principality of Halberstadt, which has been in Brandenburg since 1648 . When the Archbishopric of Magdeburg fell to Brandenburg-Prussia in 1680, the Electors of Brandenburg (from 1701 kings in / of Prussia) became the new sovereigns of the area now known as the “ Duchy of Magdeburg ”.
During the French occupation (1807-1813), Groß Schierstedt was incorporated into the Kingdom of Westphalia and, like its surroundings, assigned to the Halberstadt district in the Saale department. The place belonged to the rural canton of Aschersleben . During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Groß Schierstedt was attached to the Magdeburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony in 1816 and assigned to the Aschersleben district , which was renamed the Quedlinburg district in 1901 . In 1825, Paul Oesterreicher determined the earlier name Scerstedde for Groß Schierstedt.
With the Aschersleben V shaft , Groß Schierstedt played an important role in potash mining in the region from 1895 to 1931. At times, a cable car was even used to transport the kail salts, which was dismantled immediately after the kale salt mining stopped. The old shafts were flooded until 1972. As a result of this flooding, a larger area sank by half a meter in mid-1971.
On July 1, 1950, Groß Schierstedt was merged with the neighboring municipality of Klein Schierstedt to form a new municipality called Schierstedt . This was dissolved on January 1, 1957. Groß Schierstedt and Klein Schierstedt became independent communities again. On January 1, 2009, it was incorporated into the city of Aschersleben .
Incorporation
Groß Schierstedt was an independent municipality in the administrative community of Aschersleben / Land until December 31, 2008 . Since January 1st, 2009 Groß Schierstedt has been part of the city of Aschersleben. The mayors act as local mayors after the incorporation.
Population development
In 1933 and 1939, the district of Quedlinburg was updated, and from 1990 on, statistical records of the district statistics of the Salzland district were recorded.

The Svoboda family's courtyard shows a family coat of arms embedded in the house from 1516 and a memorial inscription carved in stone on house no.62 in front of the church , which says that a school was built here in 1806 , which was a foundation of the Christian Herrmanns and Christoph Nellerts was. Economy and Infrastructure
Around 220 residential houses shape the image of this typical clustered village with built-on settlements. These settlements were created in connection with the Aschersleben V potash mine , which brought the miners a certain wealth. The place also benefited from the so-called shaft , as the business taxes collected were used to pavement all streets with slag . For several years, these building measures brought the farmers income from haulage for road construction.
The current economic structure of Groß Schierstedt is mainly characterized by building contractors from various trades, agricultural businesses and trading companies. Groß Schierstedt currently has a combined children's facility for the children of Groß- and Klein Schierstedt .
The place has a stop on the railway line (Dessau–) Köthen-Aschersleben .
