The Obere See is located west of the town of Sternberg in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The lake has a length of about 800 meters and a maximum width of about 400 meters. The water is divided into a larger north and a smaller south basin, which are separated from each other in the eastern part by a prominent peninsula. The bank is almost entirely wooded and especially steep in the eastern part. In the southeast is the drain to the Wustrowsee .
