history

Dürnhaindlfing with the main towns Ober- and Unterhaindlfing is a subsidiary of Haindlfing in the Ampertal. The settlers withdrew further from the Ampertal, as invading Hungarians raged heavily. The new settlement was called Düren-Haindlfing because the cleared land is rather arid compared to the Ampertal. The name Dürnhaindlfing first appeared in a document in 1160 as "durrin Haidolwingen". Another document mentioned Perhaidolfingen (Unterhaindlfing) in 1275 and Gruebhaindolwingen (Oberhaindlfing) in 1291. The name Dürnhaindlfing is an old Bavarian curiosity because there is no designation as a settlement that suggests a place name.

geography

Oberhaindlfing is located north of the Ampertal in the Hallertau hill country.

Incorporations

As part of the municipal reform in 1978, the formerly independent municipality of Dürnhaindlfing was incorporated into the municipality of Wolfersdorf.
