The Neuwied trolleybus was the trolleybus system of the Rhineland-Palatinate city of Neuwied am Rhein . It existed from 1949 to 1963 and replaced the Neuwied tram that ran from 1901 to 1950 . The responsible transport company was, as before with the tram, Kraftversorgung Rhein-Wied AG , based in Neuwied . The Neuwied trolleybus was replaced by omnibuses after its closure .

history

The Neuwied trolleybus consisted of two cross-country routes , both of which were former tram routes. The 10.6 kilometer connection from Neuwied, Marktplatz via Neuwied, Bahnhof , Neuwied, Kraftversorgung, Block , Engers and Heimbach-Weis to Gladbach was used by trolleybuses from October 1, 1949 to February 28, 1963. The second route was nine kilometers long and ran between May 1, 1951 and August 1, 1962 from Neuwied station via Rasselstein and Niederbieber to Oberbieber . The two routes were served by two lines without a number.

In 1959, Bochum-Gelsenkirchener Straßenbahnen AG gave four trolleybuses built by Henschel , Kässbohrer and BBC from the years of construction 1947 and 1949 to Neuwied, where they were converted to one-man operation without a conductor.
