New construction of the high school center in Sterzing

The Oberschulzentrum Sterzing is the largest general and vocational school in the Italian city ​​of Sterzing in the South Tyrolean Wipptal . It comprises four types of school: a Realgymnasium (liceo scientifico) , a modern-language grammar school (liceo linguistico) as well as a sports grammar school and a business college (ITC). Before that, the Realgymnasium and the Business School were separate directorates, with the Realgymnasium being linked to Brixen.

Subjects

All four branches of the secondary school center are five years old and conclude with a Matura (Abitur), i.e. the general higher education entrance qualification. The school is in German, Italian is taught as the national language in all subjects in accordance with the curriculum for South Tyrol, as is German, with four hours per week. With the exception of the economic branch, Latin is taught as a compulsory subject every five years and is a Matura subject, but in the sports branch only with a very limited number of hours. English is the first foreign language and is a compulsory subject in all subjects.

Realgymnasium

The Realgymnasium (liceo scientifico), i.e. the mathematical and natural science subject, is the oldest branch of school at the secondary school center. The focus is on mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry and Latin.

Language Lycée

The core subjects of the modern language grammar school (liceo linguistico) are English and French.

Sports high school

The sports high school (liceo sportivo) focuses on practical and theoretical sports lessons, but is by no means aimed only at competitive athletes.

Economic technical college

The core subjects of the commercial college (in South Tyrolean jargon: "Hob") are: administration, finance and marketing. After graduation, the following career paths are open:

  • Service sector, public administration
  • Banking, corporate management, insurance, logistics, independent trading entrepreneur
