On April 26, 2004, the states of Berlin and Brandenburg signed the State Treaty on the establishment of joint specialized higher courts for the states of Berlin and Brandenburg . As of July 1, 2005, the joint Higher Administrative Court Berlin-Brandenburg was set up as a first step alongside the joint Berlin-Brandenburg Regional Social Court . It replaces the higher administrative courts of the states of Berlin and Brandenburg.
