Fruit pomace brandy is generally used to describe a brandy ( distilled spirit ) made from the marc of fruit , with the exception of grapes . As a sales description , the use is limited to drinks from various fruits. If only one variety is used for production, the sales description is pomace brandy with the addition of the respective fruit. The product name is brandy from pomace .

It is obtained exclusively through fermentation and distillation of fruit pomace with less than 86 % alcohol by volume . The characteristics in the composition are an alcohol content of at least 37.5% alcohol by volume, a max. Content of methanol below 1,500 g / hl and a content of volatile components of at least 200 g / hl r. A. Fruit pomace brandy is characterized by a clear, low-color texture. Neither flavorings nor additional alcohol may be added. Only the addition of caramel to match the color is allowed.
