The Ocean Rig UDW Inc. (formerly Ocean Rig ASA ) is a company from Norway with headquarters in Stavanger .

The company was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange from 1997 to 2008 . Ocean Rig manufactures and operates oil platforms . The company owns the mobile oil platforms Leiv Eirikson and Eirik Raude . Ocean Rig also operates in Luanda , Angola and St. John's , Canada .

At the end of 2007, the US company “Primelead Limited”, a subsidiary of “DryShips Inc.”, initially took over thirty percent of the shares in “Ocean Rig ASA”. On July 14, 2008, "Primelead Limited" announced that it had acquired one hundred percent of the shares in Ocean Rig. In the course of the takeover, listing on the Oslo Stock Exchange was discontinued. The company "Ocean Rig ASA" was incorporated into "Ocean Rig UDW Inc.", which was founded on December 10, 2007.

Ocean Rig UDW is now traded exclusively over the counter in the Norges Fondsmeglerforbund (The Norwegian Securities Dealers Association).
