Octavie Modert (born November 15, 1966 in Grevenmacher ) is a Luxembourg politician of the Chrëschtlech Sozial Vollekspartei (CSV).

Life

After attending the Lycée classique d'Echternach , Modert studied law at the University of Strasbourg and obtained a Master of Arts in European Studies at the University of Reading in 1991 . She then briefly worked for the CSV parliamentary group in the Luxembourg parliament before moving to the State Ministry in 1992. In 1998 she was appointed Secretary General of the Government Council and became Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker's head of cabinet . In 2004 she was elected to the Luxembourg parliament, but renounced her mandate and until 2009 became State Secretary for Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development, State Secretary for Culture, Universities and Research and for Government Relations with Parliament in the Juncker-Asselborn I government . In the Juncker-Asselborn II government , she was Minister for Culture, Minister for Relations with Parliament, Minister for Administrative Simplification and (delegated) Minister for Public Service and Administrative Reform until 2013. On April 30, 2013, she resigned from office as Minister for Relations with Parliament and also became Minister of Justice. After the early elections in October 2013, the CSV was no longer involved in forming a government, despite the election victory. Modert was elected to the Chamber of Deputies and is a member of the Committee on Constitutional Reform, the Culture Committee, the Committee on Justice and other parliamentary committees.

She has also been Deputy Chairwoman of the CSV since December 2013.
