Barbro Martinsson (born August 16, 1935 in Gävle ) is a former Swedish cross-country skier .

Career

Martinsson, who started for the Valbo AIF and the Skellefteå SK , made her first international appearance at the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo . There she finished 14th over 10 km. Two years later, she won 15th place over 10 km at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1958 . At the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley , she was seventh over 10 km. In the same year she won the Svenska Skidspelen over 10 km. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Zakopane in 1962 , she won the silver medal with the relay and took sixth place over 10 km. In 1964 she won the 10 km run at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival and won the silver medal with the relay at the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck . She also came in 11th place over 10 km and seventh place over 5 km. She was also athlete of the year in Sweden in 1964 . The following year she was second in the Svenska Skidspelen over 10 km. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1966 , she won the bronze medal with the relay and, like four years earlier, finished sixth over 10 km. In February 1967 she won the Lahti Ski Games . At the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble , she won the silver medal with the relay. In addition, she achieved fourth place over 5 km and 10 km. In 1968 she was also third in the 10 km run at the Lahti Ski Games and at the Svenska Skidspelen.

Martinsson won the Swedish championships twice over 5 km (1961, 1965), twice over 10 km (1965, 1968) and three times with the relay (1958, 1965, 1968) of Skellefteå SK. She is married to the former cross-country skier Sture Grahn .
