Octoberaspis ushakovi is an extinct species from the order Chasmataspidida of the jaw-claw bearers (Chelicerata).

features

The prosoma is almost square with rounded corners, a pronounced front edge and ends in short lateral spines. The small, dorsal eyes are centered and far apart in V-shaped depressions. Between them there is a small tubercle in the middle . The preabdomen is slightly wider than it is long, slightly rounded and, especially on the sides, covered with tubercles. The longest segment is segment 4 with wide side corners. The post abdomen tapers towards the rear. The last postabdome segment has two lateral spines and the slightly longer telson arises from its center .

etymology

The generic name Octoberaspis is made up of October , which comes from the place where it was found, the October Revolution Island , and the Greek word aspis for shield. The specific epithet was chosen in honor of the polar explorer Georgi Alexejewitsch Ushakow .

Location

The species was found in the Severnaya Zemlya Formation on the October Revolution Island in Russia .
