Octopus (German band)

Octopus was a German progressive rock band that was founded in 1973 in Frankfurt am Main . In the early 1980s, the band switched to a more commercial hard rock style, including German lyrics. The band released four albums between 1977 and 1981, three of them on Sky Records .

history

Founded by bassist Claus-Dieter Kniemeyer, singer Jenny Hensel and her husband Pit Hensel on guitar, the band played many concerts together with many other well-known German bands such as Birthcontrol , Guru Guru , Eloy or Can in the early 1980s, including larger ones Festivals. After many personnel changes and the musical change towards commercial rock, the band split in 1983.

Band members were Claus-Dieter Kniemeyer (bass), Jennifer Hensel (vocals), Pit Hensel (guitar), Seppl Niemeyer (drums), Werner Littau (keyboard), Alexander B. Rodmann (guitar), Doris Tangel (vocals), Frank Eule (Guitar), Georg Klivinyi (guitar), Winfried Kowallik (vocals), Dieter Becke, Michael Stein.
