history

Geishof is listed in 1516 with two subjects in a tax register of the Breitenegg lordship, which at that time belonged to the Wildenstein family . During this rule the Geishof belonged to the municipality of Kemnathen . In addition to the name Geishof , the name Geisberg was also common for the hamlet. After several changes of ownership, the rule of Breitenegg passed to Elector Karl Theodor in 1792 .

In the new Kingdom of Bavaria (1806), Kemnathen and thus also Geishof, consisting of the "Geisbauer" farm of the Fanderl family, a Köbler and a Gütler estate, initially became a tax district , with the second municipal edict of 1818 a rural community that except Kemnathen and Geishof still comprised seven parts of the municipality. In 1875 Bavaria had 25 inhabitants, 14 buildings and 28 head of cattle for Geisberg / Geishof. In 1900 Geishof had 19 residents in five residential buildings.

With the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Kemnathen was dissolved and the ten parts of the municipality since 1956 after the incorporation of Rasch, including Geishof, were incorporated into Markt Breitenbrunn in the Neumarkt district on January 1, 1978.

A stable house (Geisberg 3), a single-storey and eaves gable roof building from the 17th century with various half-timbered gables, is considered a monument.

Church conditions

Geishof has belonged to the Catholic parish of Breitenbrunn in the diocese of Eichstätt , which was one of the foundations of the Bergen monastery in the 10th century . In 1938 9 Catholics and 2 Protestants lived here. In 1839 the Eichstätt diocese approved the construction of a chapel in Geishof.
