Höhenberg is a district of the market Breitenbrunn in the district of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria .

geography

The district is located southwest of the municipality in the Upper Palatinate Jura at 472 m above sea level on the Jura plateau approx. 450 m east of the valley of the Breitenbrunn Laber .

traffic

The place is located on a community road that branches off state road 2394 in a north-westerly direction and continues via Wolfertshofen and Siegertshofen to the community headquarters.

history

The meaning of the name "Siedlung zum Höchst Berg" makes sense from the point of view that on the one hand you come from the valley of the Breitenbrunner Laber from approx. 390 m above sea level to Höhenberg as the closest settlement on the plateau and on the other hand the boundary to the valley up to 489 m above sea level increases.

In the Kingdom of Bavaria (from 1806) the municipality Erggertshofen was formed in the Upper Palatinate district / district court of Hemau , to which the villages Erggertshofen and Siegertshofen, the hamlets of Leiterzhofen , Wolfertshofen , Ödenhaid and the wasteland of Höhenberg belonged as parts of the municipality .

Lived in the Höhenberg part of the municipality

  • 1836 25 inhabitants (4 houses),
  • 1867 15 inhabitants (11 buildings),
  • 1875 14 inhabitants (9 buildings) with a large herd of 7 horses and 14 head of cattle,
  • 1900 12 residents in 3 residential buildings,
  • 1925 17 residents in 2 residential buildings,
  • 1950 13 inhabitants in 2 residential buildings.

With the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality Erggertshofen, located in the district of Parsberg of the district office of Beilngries, was dissolved and the municipal parts were incorporated into the market Breitenbrunn and thus into the district of Neumarkt on January 1, 1972. In 1987 the Höhenberg district had only 5 residents with 2 residential buildings.

Church conditions

Höhenberg has belonged to the Catholic parish of Breitenbrunn in the diocese of Eichstätt since ancient times . 16 Catholics (and no non-Catholics) lived here in 1937. In the north of Höhenberg, on the road to Siegertshofen, there is a chapel called “Mariä Krönung”.

Monuments

The chapel and a farmhouse ( stable house ; house no. 2), both from the 18th century, are considered monuments.
