Sabine Michalek

Sabine Michalek (* 1967 in Munich ) is a German local politician ( CDU ) and holds a PhD in agricultural engineering. Since January 25, 2013 she has been mayor of the city of Einbeck in Lower Saxony .

Education and professional career

Michalek studied horticulture at the Technical University of Munich- Weihenstephan, after completing her studies at the fruit-growing chair there, she graduated as an agricultural engineer and completed her doctorate in 1996. After a family break, she joined the plant breeding and biotechnology company KWS Saat SE in 2008 in the area of ​​public relations.

Political career

Michalek has been a CDU member since 2005, and since 2006 a member of Einbeck's city council and deputy mayor. On July 18, 2012, a law stipulated that the city of Einbeck and the municipality of Kreiensen should be united. Direct elections for the mayor's office were then held in January 2013. Sabine Michalek won the election as a joint candidate from CDU, Together for Einbeck (GfE) and FDP with 55.82 percent of the vote. She won against the incumbent mayor Ulrich Minkner ( SPD ). Michalek's term of office ends on January 24, 2021. New elections are advertised for September 13, 2020.

Michalek is Protestant, has lived in Einbeck since 2001, is married and has 2 sons.
