Odd Einar Haugen

Odd Einar Haugen (* 1954 in Lunde , Telemark ) is a Norwegian linguist for Old Norse philology , professor at the University of Bergen and editor .

Life

Odd Einar Haugen became Candidatus magisterii in 1978 and Candidatus philologiæ in 1982 at the University of Bergen. In 1992 he obtained his doctorate in philosophy there . Since 1993 he has been a professor of Old Norse Philology, also in Bergen . Before that, he worked as a research assistant from 1982 to 1988 and from 1989 to 1992 for the NAVB and UNIFOB at the university. From 1993 to 1998 he was coordinator at Fjernord . From 2006 to 2007 and from 2009 to 2011 he was visiting professor at the University of Zurich . He is the head of the Nordic Institute in Bergen and a member of various commissions and working groups. From 1994 to 1995 he was editor of Nordica Bergensia magazine and then until 2005 of Maal og Minne . In 2013 he published a 208-page Old Norse grammar in German, the second edition of which he brought out in 2015 and in Norwegian. He also wrote a variety of other books and published hundreds of scientific articles in magazines and books.
