orchestra

The ODEON Youth Symphony Orchestra Munich currently consists of around 70 musicians between the ages of 15 and 25. In weekly rehearsals, the orchestra and its artistic director Julio Doggenweiler Fernández develop four programs a year with a very diverse repertoire, ranging from Georg Friedrich Handel to contemporary composers such as Jörg Widmann . The focus is on the works of Romanticism and Classical Modernism , the promotion and dissemination of which is the declared aim of ODEON. The intensive musical work is supported by voice rehearsals with lecturers from the ranks of the Munich Philharmonic , of which the ODEON has been the sponsor orchestra since 2010.

Sponsorship

Since the founding of the ODEON there has been a close musical friendship through contact with Wolfgang Berg, violist of the Munich Philharmonic and founding member of the ODEON.

The high artistic standards of the young musicians were finally convincing and could be demonstrated in a joint concert in autumn 2010 at the beginning of the sponsorship in the Philharmonie, shoulder to shoulder with the professional musicians. Since then, the sponsorship concerts between the ODEON and the Philharmonic have been part of our regular program.

Musicians of the Munich Philharmonic accompany and support the ODEON in voice and movement samples in an individual and personal way. In vocal groups they work out the respective program and thus prepare the subsequent tutti rehearsals and concerts. In addition, the Munich Philharmonic is at the ODEON's side with sheet music, a rehearsal room and loan instruments.

conductor

Julio Doggenweiler Fernandez carries out his wide-ranging activity as a conductor mainly in Munich, where he has lived for 20 years, and in Chile, his home country, which he visits every year.

In recent years he has worked in Germany as a guest conductor with the Munich Philharmonic and the festival orchestra of the Richard Strauss Festival in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . He conducted world premieres for the Munich Biennale for New Music Theater .

In Chile he is a regular guest with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile, the Orquesta Filarmónica del Teatro Municipal de Santiago and the Orquesta de Cámara de Chile. One of his passions, working with young people, prompted him to found the ODEON Youth Symphony Orchestra in Munich in 2006. For 10 years he was the conductor of the Germeringer Chamber Orchestra and the Germeringer Chamber Choir. With these orchestras he performed all the famous oratorios by Bach, Handel, Mozart and Rossini. He dedicated himself to the field of opera with a brilliant production of ORFEO by Christoph Willibald Gluck.

Julio Doggenweiler Fernandez was born in Santiago de Chile . After studying flute in Hanover and two more years of study in New York, he was first solo flutist of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile for 5 years. He then studied orchestral conducting with Hernn Prof. Rolf Reuter and Prof. Hermann Michael at the Musikhochschule in Munich. Master classes with Sergiu Celibidache rounded off his studies. He was a finalist in the orchestra competition The masterplayers in Lugano , Switzerland.
