Oestringen

Oestringen was a municipality in the district of Friesland established in 1933 and dissolved again in 1948 .

Through the Oldenburg law to simplify and reduce the cost of administration of April 27, 1933, the municipalities of Cleverns , Sande , Sandel and Schortens and were merged into a new municipality, which was named Oestringen based on the old Frisian district of Östringen .

In 1939 Oestringen had 8,965 inhabitants.

In 1948 the municipality of Oestringen was divided into the three municipalities of Cleverns-Sandel, Sande and Schortens. Cleverns-Sandel was incorporated into Jever in 1972 .
