Furnace house

The furnace house at Stapfenstrasse 13A in Köniz is a building from 1757.

It belonged to a structure built in the middle of the 18th century consisting of a farmhouse , granary and oven house. This was built for a new generation of the Hänni family, who had owned a farm at the Bärnstrass / Blinzerngässli intersection (today Schwarzenburgstrasse / Stapfenstrasse) since 1683 . The furnace house is molasses - sandstone built. In front of him was a similar old linden tree , which had to be felled in 2013 and was replaced with a young linden tree.

The farmhouse burned down in 1899 and the granary was demolished in 1900/1901. The furnace house was owned by the Canton of Bern from 1919 to 1986, and has belonged to the municipality of Köniz since 1987. In 1991 the stove house was renovated and a wood stove was installed again. a. is used by the local association Köniz.

The furnace house is located directly next to the Stapfen location of the Könizer libraries .
