Oggenhausen has been a district of Heidenheim an der Brenz since January 1, 1971 .

history

Few finds are known from the Stone Age. There are two grave mounds from the Hallstatt period . A road from Heidenheim to Faimingen from the Roman period (end of the 1st to the middle of the 3rd century AD), which is still partially recognizable today, runs south-west past Oggenhausen . Furthermore, there are still overgrown wall remnants from a Roman Manor or from ramparts that are in the "Eierhäule" forest.

It is assumed that Oggenhausen was already in possession of the Staufer foundation goods for the Lorch monastery in 1102 . Important landowners were the Teutonic Order or the Teutonic Order Coming in Giengen in the middle of the 14th century and the lower nobility of the Fetzer in the middle of the 15th century. In 1587 they divided their rule and thus the village of Oggenhausen into the so-called “Upper Castle” and the “Lower Castle”. The inn "Zum König" was likely to have existed as part of the "Upper Castle" back then, albeit in a different structural form. "Lower Castle" came to the Duchy of Württemberg in 1612 and "Upper Castle" in 1662 .

The brewery that still exists today was established in 1686. In 1810 the village came to the Oberamt Heidenheim. On May 22, 1829, the two castle estates were sold by the state to the municipality. The land that was now available could be bought cheaply by the residents so that they could farm. Furthermore, Oggenhausen became a district parish in 1829 and a parish in 1834. The town received its coat of arms (three black sloping bars in silver) in 1930. In 1970, 95% of the citizens of Oggenhausen voted for the connection to Heidenheim, which came into force on January 1, 1971.
