Ogunlade Davidson

Ogunlade R. Davidson (born January 5, 1949 ) is a climatologist and ex- politician from Sierra Leone .

Life

Davidson studied up to the bachelor's degree in engineering at the University of Sierra Leone (USL), then received his Master of Science at the University in Manchester and a PhD from the University in nearby Salford .

From 1985 to 1992 he was research director at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Fourah Bay College of the University of Sierra Leone, from 1992 to 2000 he worked at this facility, initially as head of the mechanical engineering department, and since 1996 as dean of the faculty. In 2000 he became director of the Research Center for Energy and Development at the University of Cape Town , where he stayed until the end of 2003. Since 2004 he has been again employed at Fourah Bay College as Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and he also teaches as a visiting professor at UNEP Collaborating Center on Energy and Environment in Denmark .

In 1997 he was appointed to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to work on the Third Assessment Report . He was one of the editors of the IPCC special report on the capture and storage of CO 2 (2005). In 2007 he was vice chairman of working group III "Mitigation of Climate Change", again in a responsible position in the preparation of the fourth assessment report .

Davidson was Minister of Energy and Water in Koroma I cabinet from 2007 to 2012 before being fired for inaction.
