Oh My Darling is a Dutch animated short film directed by Børge Ring in 1978.

action

Mother and father become parents. They meet the unborn child with a lot of love, the little girl grows up cared for and happy. Above all, the father is adored by the girl and she puts a small crown on him, whereupon the father's chair is transformed into a royal throne. The girl enthusiastically helps the mother to hang up the laundry, but the mother soon fears that her child might fled and vigorously pushes a teddy bear into his arms.

The girl becomes a teenager and uses the make-up of her mother, who energetically ties childlike bows in her daughter's hair. When the almost adult daughter meets her first boyfriend, she shyly ties ribbons in her hair at first, but quickly recovers. Although the parents offer the young couple to build their nest with them, they both decide to have their own house not far from their parents' building.

The mother comes to the couple with good motherly advice, which is rejected. She drives angrily back to her husband, who meanwhile ponders the loss of his "royal dignity". The mother tells him to persuade the daughter and teases him figuratively so that he too is angry with her, but the father is warmly welcomed by the daughter, receives a crown again and is the first to learn that his daughter is expecting a child. He is happy and a little crown hangs on a prong of his royal crown. He rushes back to his wife happily, but thinks of her anger and stops. He now shuttles uncertainly between his daughter's house and his wife's house.
