Oikoswirtschaft ( ancient Greek οἶκος oikos the house) is a way of working and living in which commercial production and private reproduction ( choice of partner , procreation , upbringing ) in one house are borne by the entire family and the family also includes slaves , unfree people and employees .

The term is mainly used to the ancient and medieval - rural production and life of the later evolving dichotomy of life delineate, in the civil society , the public sphere with the production on the one hand and the private sphere of reproduction and recovery on the other hand diverge leaves .
