Oktoberfest Blumenau

The Oktoberfest Blumenau is a folk festival that has been taking place in Blumenau in Brazil every year since 1984 at the beginning of October . The festival, based on the original Munich Oktoberfest, takes place in the "Deutsch Village Park" and lasts 18 days.

The reason for this was the need for funds for the necessary reconstruction measures after the great floods of the Rio Itajaí in 1983 and 1984. In recent years, the festival has established itself as the second largest festival in Brazil after the carnival in Rio, with over 600,000 visitors annually . This has also increased the city's profile in Germany, which is also important in terms of tourism. The 30th edition took place in 2013, with a total of around 20,000,000 visitors since it was founded. The beer consumption in 2012 was about 650,000 liters.
