The Oku-iwa ( Japanese 奥 岩 'Inner Rock' , Norwegian Indre Brenabben ) is a striking rock formation on the Crown Prince Olav Coast in Queen Maud Land in East Antarctica . It rises to the east of the mouth of the Oku-iwa glacier in the Lützow-Holm-Bucht .
Aerial photographs and measurements of a Japanese Antarctic expedition that lasted from 1957 to 1962, during which the naming was also made, were used for mapping. The name reflects the offset coastline at this geographical position.
