Okuno Takeo

Okuno Takeo ( Japanese 奥 野 健 男 ; * July 25, 1926 , † November 26, 1997 ) was a Japanese literary critic.

Okuno studied at the Tokyo Technical University before turning to literature. After the Second World War, he became one of the most influential literary critics in Japan, who contributed significantly to the acceptance of female authors in Japanese literature. In his main work Bungaku ni okeru genfūkei he dealt with the role of the landscape in modern literature. In 1984 he was awarded the Hirabayashi Taiko Literature Prize for Ma no kōzō .
