Obermauerbach is a district of Aichach in the district of Aichach-Friedberg in the administrative district of Swabia in Bavaria , to which the parish village of Obermauerbach and the church village of Untermauerbach belong.

geography

Obermauerbach is located in the Danube-Isar hill country and thus in the lower Bavarian hill country, which is part of the Alpine foothills , one of the main natural spatial units in Germany .

Obermauerbach is about five kilometers southeast of the old town of Aichach. Untermauerbach is about one and a half kilometers north of Obermauerbach.

Ober- and Untermauerbach are only connected to each other and to neighboring towns by local roads.

history

The Catholic parish of St. Maria Magdalena in Obermauerbach belongs to the deanery Aichach-Friedberg in the diocese of Augsburg. The parish is also looked after by the parish in neighboring Klingen .
The village of Untermauerbach also belongs to the parish.

Until July 1, 1972, Obermauerbach and its district belonged to the district of Aichach as an independent municipality and then came to the newly founded district of Aichach-Friedberg as part of the regional reform in Bavaria (until April 30, 1973 as the district of Augsburg-Ost ). On January 1, 1977 Obermauerbach was incorporated into the city of Aichach.
