Walchshofen is a church village and district of Aichach in the district of Aichach-Friedberg , which belongs to the administrative district of Swabia in Bavaria .

geography

Walchshofen is located in the Danube-Isar hill country and thus in the lower Bavarian hill country, which belongs to the Alpine foothills , one of the main natural areas of Germany .

Walchshofen is about three kilometers north of the old town of Aichach.

Walchshofen is located in the Paartal on the western bank of the Paar, which flows from southwest to northeast . The Krebsbach coming from the west ( Motzenhofen ) crosses Walchshofen from west to east and flows east of Walchshofen as a left tributary into the Paar. In 2006 the Krebsbach burst its banks and flooded parts of Walchshofen.

The district road AIC 5 crosses from the north from Unterbernbach and Radersdorf along the Paartal coming Walchshofen from north to south and joins the district road AIC 1 from the northwest located Inchenhofen south of Walchshofen in a roundabout . From the roundabout, the AIC 1 district road continues south to Oberbernbach .

The Paartalbahn from Augsburg-Hochzoll to Ingolstadt also runs through Walchshofen in a south-north direction .

history

The place name can probably be traced back to the Welschen or Walchen.

The Catholic branch church of St. Martin in Walchshofen belongs to the parish of the Assumption in Aichach. The church was only consecrated on December 12, 1966.

Until April 1, 1972, Walchshofen belonged to the district of Aichach as an independent municipality and was incorporated into the city of Aichach on that day. On July 1, 1972, Aichach and its districts became part of the newly founded district of Aichach-Friedberg (until April 30, 1973 called the district of Augsburg-Ost ).
