List of architectural monuments in Aichach
The monuments of the Swabian city of Aichach are compiled on this page . This table is a partial list of the list of architectural monuments in Bavaria . The basis is the Bavarian Monument List , which was first drawn up on the basis of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act of October 1, 1973 and has since been managed by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation . The following information does not replace the legally binding information from the monument protection authority.
Ensembles
Ensemble Botengasse
Closed row of one and two-story small houses in a cobbled alley. These are plastered buildings that are particularly characterized by the variety of their roof shapes (mansard, flat hip, tailcoat, gable and eaves gable roof). The houses, in their external appearance in the first half of the 19th century, are mainly from the 17th and 18th centuries. Century. File number: E-7-71-113-2
Ensemble town square
The elongated and slightly S-shaped curved town square forms the core of the Aichach town complex with its delimitation by the upper and lower gate and with the town hall as the center. The extension and course of the 330 m long and moderately wide road axis from south to north document the original importance of this traffic, rest, trade and market road as the result of a historically and topographically favorable situation, given by the intersection of the old trade and post roads Augsburg – Regensburg and Munich – Donauwörth, whereby the intersection streets after their union in front of the two city gates jointly cross the city via the expanded street market. Around the street market, which was probably planned in the 13th century, was the place that emerged from an older castle settlement, first mentioned in the 12th century, a little later already the parish seat, after 1208 the main place of the Wittelsbach regional court and soon afterwards with the rank of market. For the development of the town square, mainly with bourgeois gabled houses from the 17th and 18th centuries, the impression of unity is characteristic, additionally increased by the spatial closure of the square by the two gate towers, remnants of the medieval, only rudimentary city fortifications. At the same time, the staggered relocation of the houses as a result of the slight curvature of the square and the different building widths, floor and gable heights creates the impression of irregularity and diversity. The architectural dominant feature is the hospital church of the Holy Spirit lined up on the eastern side of the street, and even more so the elongated structure of the baroque town hall with its volute gables, around which the paved street is divided. The mostly simple residential and commercial buildings, some with a flat core, are plastered in color and show the overall architectural proportions of a bourgeois town with a reference to trade and commerce. File number: E-7-71-113-3
Ensemble Werlbergerstrasse
The houses on Werlbergerstraße form the extension of the town square beyond the Obere Tor. The building group on the east side, based on the original shape, is faced by a row of simple two-story residential buildings, some with protruding roofs facing the street. The buildings on the west side date from around 1800 and later. File number: E-7-71-113-4

- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
