The Catholic parish church of St. Johannes Baptist is a monument in Oberbernbach near Aichach .

history

The nave of the church is from the 12th century, while the choir and tower substructure probably date from the 15th century. Around 1720/30 the building was redesigned and the tower was probably also increased. In 1863/64 the church was extended to the west.

Building description

St. Johannes Baptist is a flat-roofed hall building with a drawn-in, three-sided closed choir under a barrel cap . The northern onion dome has a square floor plan and a richly articulated octagon . The west facade is structured by pilaster strips .

Furnishing

The stucco of the church around 1720/30 is attributed to Matthias Lotter . There is a German order swappen above the choir arch . The frescoes from around 1720/30 were later renewed. They show the Trinity in the choir and putti to the side with the Arma Christi . Scenes of the Passion of Christ are depicted in side panels in the nave and scenes from the life of Mary are shown above the windows and the gallery . In the nave there is a wooden crucifix with putti that collect the blood of Christ in goblets. The altars are from around 1700, the classicist pulpit was built around 1770/80.
