geography
Untergriesbach is located in the Danube-Isar hill country and thus in the Lower Bavarian hill country , which belongs to the Alpine foothills , one of the main natural areas of Germany .
The district is located approx. 1.5 km east of the city center of Aichach. It has almost grown together with the core city of Aichach.
The place name comes from the Griesbach, which rises north of Untergriesbach, east of Untergriesbach makes a swerve to the west, flows through the town and the city center of Aichach and flows north of the old town as a right tributary into the Paar .
The federal highway 300 runs directly west of Untergriesbach in a south-north direction , from which Untergriesbach has its own exit Aichach-Untergriesbach . From the west of the city center of Aichach comes the district road AIC 2 , crosses Untergriesbach and continues east to Allenberg .
history
The part of the name "Gries" in the place name indicates the sandy fine gravel, which was formerly called "Gries" and can be found on the couple's right bank. Because of this light soil, the area around Untergriesbach was settled early on. It is believed that people have lived in Untergriesbach for around 4000 years. Archaeological finds at the source of the Griesbacherl are dated around 2000 BC. This was the Neolithic period .
The farms on Griesbacherl and Freisinger Strasse were first mentioned in the 12th century. Berthold von Hausen, a nobleman from the von Walchshofen family , donated a hat in Griezbach to the imperial monastery of St. Ulrich in Augsburg around 1180 .
A closed manor has never formed on the spot. This means that the area around Untergriesbach was always shared by several princes or monasteries. The Count Palatine and later Dukes of Bavaria were able to exercise their bailiff over the monastery property. Since a monastery could not enforce the judicial interests, a secular prince or judge had to do this for them. The nobles could exercise their own jurisdiction. Often they also represented the monasteries and were thus in a simple way the masters of the place, although these villages might not belong to those charged with exercising jurisdiction at all. For example, Count Palatine Otto exercised jurisdiction over the estates of St. Ulrich east of the Lech around 1130. Untergriesbach was always subordinate to the district judge in Aichach. The division to ecclesiastical landlords, as we can trace it through the centuries, ensured calm development and stable economic conditions.
At the draft in 1517 "Nyederngruessbach" formed its own main team and was able to provide the duke with two soldiers and six men for military service. In 1522 there were nine men.
In the course of the reorganization of Bavaria after 1803, the small village came together with Ecknach , Eitershofen, Nisselsbach, the Tränkmühle and the Untermühle, now Aktienkunstmühle, to the tax district of Aichach.
In 1818 the community of Untergriesbach was formed because it reached the minimum number of 20 families. The village could not come to the city of Aichach because it is located outside of the castle peace and the city wall.
Untergriesbach belongs to the Catholic parish of the Assumption in Aichach.
On January 1, 1970, until then was in the district of Aichach independent municipality Untergriesbach in the course of administrative reform in Bavaria incorporated into the town Aichach.
